Holcim: B2B
Ballast Lane provided design and business analyst expertise to design features to enable stakeholders to be more efficient and smarter, and to accelerate the completion of roadmap items.
Opportunity
ConcreteDirect is a digital platform developed by Holcim, a leading global supplier of cement and concrete. The platform is designed to streamline the process of ordering concrete and managing concrete deliveries for construction projects. Customers can place orders for concrete using a simple online interface, rather than having to call or email a sales representative. The platform allows customers to select the type and quantity of concrete they need, as well as the delivery date and time. Once an order is placed, the platform provides real-time tracking of the delivery, including updates on the truck's location and estimated arrival time. This allows customers to better manage their construction schedules and avoid delays due to late deliveries. ConcreteDirect also provides access to a range of support services, such as technical advice on concrete mix designs and recommendations for improving project efficiency.
Engagement
Ballast Lane Applications worked with the the ConcreteDirect team in 2022 and 2023 to contribute with the following teams: • Design and Business Analyst • Development Team: Frontend, Backend, Project Management • QA Design considerations included: • Multiple user personas - Dispatcher, driver, customer. Each of these personas have their own needs when it comes to tools, data and priorities. • Country differences - ConcreteDirect operates in many different markets. Considerations include units of measure, data format, language and cultural differences, regulatory requirements, technical limitations and user experience expectations. • Multi-device use - screen size and resolution, input methods (e.g. touch, voice) To overcome these challenges, BLA employed a variety of strategies, such as using responsive design to create UIs that adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions, conducting user research to understand how users interact with different devices, and leveraging design patterns and best practices that work well across multiple devices. By carefully addressing these challenges, we created UIs and UXs that work well on a range of devices, providing a consistent and engaging user experience for all users. Development: The team worked on several key features such as the rebuild of Capacity Management tools.
